Finding strength in adversity

In 2017, I faced another significant challenge when I had 65% of my right lung removed due to cancer. The surgery was complex, damaging nerves and leading to permanent disability. This unexpected turn meant retiring, a future I had never envisioned. However, this period also opened doors to new possibilities. After the COVID-19 pandemic locked us to our homes, I went through an empty nester phase. I finally decided I had too much time on my hands.

A new chapter in education

I decided to pursue what they were calling a chance to go after your dream of pursuing a higher education. The next thing I know I was enrolled at Colorado Christian University (yep, a Christian University). I figured I would get thrown out when they found out I had never sat down and read the Bible, (I owned one). This academic journey profoundly changed my perspective on life, myself, and God by equipping me with new tools to understand not only others, but for the first time, I found myself and I found love in Jesus Christ.

Empowerment through sharing

Now, at 67, with a B.S. in Psychology, my goal is to share my stories to help others finally be happy in life. This page is for anyone struggling with addiction, navigating major life changes, or simply seeking inspiration to find their own path. My journey, from a grateful recovering alcoholic with 15 years sober to surviving cancer and thriving, demonstrates that it's never too late to embrace new challenges and discover profound self-worth.
